2008 2/09 NZ, Ohakune - Whakapapanui Walk and the Silica Rapids

Well, the Tongariro Crossing just wasn't enough!

After a day of rest for Nancy (Joe went fishing with Alec) it was time for another big one. We headed back to the National Park and decided to do the Whakapapanui Walk (1.5 hours). When we finished, Joe decided that wasn't quite enough - so we were off to the Silica Rapids. Of course it was uphill most of the way - but heck, you only live once.

Here's a picture of Joe as we were walking back to the car park. This is Mt. Ruapehu Volcano in the background.
