Today's destination is Telluride via Highway 550 to Silverton and Ouray; Highway 62 to Ridgway; Highway 145 to Placerville, Sawpit and Telluride. The drive was incredibly beautiful and took a little over 3 hours. Mountains capped in snow, steep cliffs, waterfalls from the snow-melt, and lots of highway switchbacks that climb to an altitude of over 10,000 feet! It was lovely scenery indeed.
We enjoyed sun mixed with a few clouds...the only negative was gusting winds that weather forecasters had predicted the night before. The wind gusts weren't too bothersome, but they did stir up quite a bit of dust in Telluride in the afternoon hampering clear views of the mountains.
