Colorado, Train Ride to Silverton

We enjoyed a day-trip to Silverton on the train, a Narrow Gauge Railroad that's been operating continuously for over a hundred years. Our travels took us through the lovely mountain terrain of the San Juan National Forest. The clickety-clack sounds of the train and the side-to-side rocking motion of our car was tranquil and relaxing. We crossed the river at least five times on our way to Silverton which got it's name from the ton of silver ore discovered in one vein! Mining has given way to tourism, but it's a fun trip to see how travelers from a bygone era made their way through this territory.
